We started off by watching through what we had made so far and we then started editing the clips which included:
- Shortening some of the clips
- Making Trevor's scenes shorter to show that time was passing
- Adjusting music so that it played in time with the sequence.
- Taking out clips to shorten the sequence opening
- Adding Split Screens to show our characters heading towards the same place (lift)
Although it may seem simple, editing took a very long time and it was difficult for us to be calm as these seemed like little things that were not going right for us. I found that our group dealt with the stress very well as we all helped eachother stay focused and not give up. I love this about my team mates because it really made me feel as though I was not the only one struggling to stay focused.
Whilst Thahmina edited the film, my job was to go and find a soundtrack that would make the sequence flow and not bore our audience. It was difficult but eventually, I found a soundtrack on Creative Commons called 'Rap Instrumental Beat' which was copyright free. I found this music was perfect as it was a general beat which brought out the urban atmosphere of our opening.
Problems we faced during editing:
- We struggled with accepting the fact that we had to delete some scenes in order to make the sequence shorter as we all felt that we were deleting crucial parts of the opening that had to be there.
- We struggled to find music for Trevor's scenes but we eventually found ourselves a remake of Tyga's 'Rack City' song.We thought that this audio was perfect for representing Trevor's character.
- Futhermore, me and Thahmina learnt how to put the split screen on. It was quite complex at first however It became easy to use the more we got used to it. There was alot involved such as:
- placing the videos on top of each other that you want to use for split screen
- placing the videos in a pefect line in comparison to each other
- having each of the characters going off the screen at them same time
- using the crop tool to get the video in perfect position
Before the lesson had finished, Thahmina quickly added in the credits which included:
- Actor 1
- Actor 2
- Costumes
- Music supervisor
- Music
- Editors
- Production designers
- Director of Photography
- Executive producers
- Written by
- Director
- Film Title
We didn't have time to edit them in the sequence properly but our plan was to place them so that they show on top of the opening as we thought that it would save time aswell as making our sequence more effective as an opening.
